Rachel Kahler Physiotherapy

About me
I’m Rachel, a dedicated physiotherapist with more than 20 years’ experience working in the field of musculoskeletal physiotherapy. I have worked alongside the Rosewood Lockyer Doctors for 5 years now and have had the privilege of getting to know many wonderful local people.

My experience is varied having worked in NSW and QLD in both private practice and gyms. My early career began in Townsville in private practice, soon followed as a contractor to the Australian Defence Force at Lavarack Barracks, Oakey and Cabarlah Medical Centres.

I’m a wife and mother of 2 young adults and 1 teenager. My husband and youngest daughter live locally at Lower Mount Walker on our family farm. You won’t find me on the tractor or in the shed, maybe the garden but many patients will tell you – I should stick to my day job!

I enjoy working out with EP Ellen at Plainland and often drag my daughters along too. I just love being exhausted – said no one ever!

With that in mind I’m dedicated to improving your overall health and well-being through personalised assessments and treatment plans to get you back to what you love doing. I use a variety of manual therapy including massage, mobilisation, manipulation, dry needling, cold laser therapy, education and exercise to help you get back to living your best life.

Initial Consultation

A 45-minute comprehensive first appointment to assess your concerns and tailor a treatment plan to reach your goals. Includes assessment, education about your diagnosis, treatment and an exercise program delivered to your email. A report can be sent to your GP if required.

Subsequent Consultation

A 30-minute follow up appointment to check on your progress after your recent initial consultation. Includes treatment and upgrade of your program. A report can be sent to your GP if required.

Headache and Migraine Management

I am Level 2 trained in the Watson Headache® Approach, a scientifically researched method for assessing and managing headache and migraine conditions related to upper cervical spine dysfunction. If you suffer with headaches or migraines and have not had your neck assessed, now is the time to book your appointment.

Manual Therapy

Hands-on techniques including massage, mobilisation, manipulation and instrument assisted manipulation to help decrease your pain and improve your mobility and capacity for doing the things you love.

Post-Surgical Rehabilitation

The road to recovery after surgery is often not as simple as you expected. It requires commitment on your part and an individualised program to help you regain mobility, strength, balance and confidence for everyday activities.

Dry Needling

Either love it or hate it, many people find an improvement in their pain and function following dry needling. Fine acupuncture needles are used to relieve pain and release tight muscles. A temporary reduction in your pain allows you a window of time to get on track with your program.

Exercise Prescription

No body has ever regretted being stronger - ever! We are all strong enough to get through our usual day to day activities. However, if you need and want to achieve more then you need to step it up and engage in your exercise program. Customised exercise programs designed to improve strength, balance and function will be emailed to you and are accessible on the Physitrack App on your phone.

Cold Laser Therapy

Available at the Lower Mount Walker location. Cold laser therapy also known as low level laser therapy is a non-invasive treatment used in physiotherapy to promote tissue healing, reduce inflammation, and relieve pain.

If you find it difficult to access the community I can bring physiotherapy to you in the privacy of your own home. Call or email for availability.

Physiotherapists are AHPRA registered allied health professionals. They have spent 4 years at university learning their craft and many more hours a year upskilling in their areas of interest. Physiotherapists help people recover from injury, manage pain and improve movement. In particular, musculoskeletal injuries like neck and back pain, sprains and strains, post-surgical rehabilitation, workplace injuries, growing pains, sporting injuries and persistent pain and mobility issues.

Lots of questions as I need to get to the bottom of your concerns. The how, the when, and the why, so be prepared. It's a good idea to wear loose fitting clothing to your appointment - which reminds me of the time in my early 20's when I went to the physio wearing the tightest pair of jeans. They were brand new, and I had to wear them in. Don't be like me!

Loose fitting clothing won't restrict your movement, and I can work around them. If your're expecting massage or dry needling, then clothing will need to be partially removed to expose the skin of the area to be treated. Towels will be used to ensure your comfort and privacy during treatment.
I like to be prepared for your appointment. The more I know about you prior to your appointment, the more time we can spend assessing and treating you. It also gets you thinking and by the time you come to your appointment, you will have more to tell me.

Often patients remember at the end of their appointment, as they are walking out the door, just exactly what may have been the precursor to their problem. Or they remember to tell me how at the age of 7, they sustained a horrific injury in the playground and ended up in hospital. That detail is important to me and may help me direct your treatment.
This happens from time to time. A good internet connection is required, and sometimes Apple products don't play the game nicely.
When you get to the end of the page click on "save and continue". If the next page does not load, then you have missed answering a mandatory question so please go back to the top and check again. If all else fails, close it down and reload it. Your answers from the previous pages will be saved.

In the beginning when I started my journey with The Lockyer Doctors, they were a bulk billing practice. Times have changed and they no longer bulk bill everyone. Business costs have risen across all industries and physiotherapy is not immune to these rising costs.
You will find that my prices are very reasonable and on par with, if not less than Ipswich and the local area. I offer generous discounts for concession card holders as I believe everyone should be able to have access to physiotherapy.
Here are a few options: Please contact me before your appointment if you have any questions about payment options.

1. Payment can be made by cash or card during your appointment.

2. Tyro Health is used for on-the-spot health fund claiming and the balance paid by cash or card.

3. BNPL may be an option for you. A secure payment link will be sent as a text or emailed with your invoice and must be paid on the day of your appointment. If you choose PayPal at the checkout, you may be eligible for "Pay in 4" - split your payment into four interest-free instalments over six weeks (available for purchases between $30–$2,000 AUD).

There are no additional fees, and your payment is processed securely online.
